Phil Sheffer

Facilitator

Phil is a Seattle based sound practitioner and certified Tone Circle™ facilitator. Alongside his work as a building manager in Seattle, Phil has followed an enduring call toward sound as a source of healing, grounding, clarity, and balance.

After years of noticing subtle whispers and echoes of sound healing in his life, it was ultimately the vibration of the gong that marked a turning point, transforming sound healing from a tertiary interest into a primary source of comfort, inspiration, and nervous-system regulation. In 2025, he completed formal sound healing training at the Seattle Sound Temple and continues to develop his skills as an emerging therapeutic sound practitioner.

Phil’s relationship with his own voice is continually unfolding. Initially, vocal expression felt too vulnerable, but he found community singing meditations through Tone Circle Seattle to be a welcoming and accessible entry point. Over time, vocal toning revealed itself as the shortest walk to the spring, blossoming into a passion for the meditative practice and its benefits for nervous-system regulation. He has since become known for his overtone singing, which adds depth and texture to his vocal toning and sound work, earning him the nickname Phil Harmonic.

As a Tone Circle facilitator, Phil brings a deep level of empathy and authenticity shaped by lived experience and the courage to engage in meaningful personal exploration. Having once felt truly timid about his own voice, he now holds safe, welcoming space for others who may feel similarly, while honoring the deep connection between voice and heart that Tone Circle singing meditations are known to cultivate.

In his free time, Phil plays the gong in nature as often as possible, treating the landscape as a resonant partner and imagining the gong as a bridge between place and presence, making subtle, cosmic frequencies perceptible through sound. His side projects include developing raw crystal sonic tools and experimenting with behavioral psychoacoustics.
